4 Essentials for a Stronger Family Bond

family bond, team building for families

How do you strengthen the family bond? This article tackles this family issue given the shift towards the digital world.

In an increasingly digital society, we have developed a technological culture which favors individualism and brings out queer attitudes among children in the Epoch of the Digital Age – at least as parents see it.

Nowadays, kids typically spend most of their time in the online world. They connect to social media to escape and have a little privacy from their parents, weakening the family bond at an earlier age, and even risk their health (Paakkari et al., 2021).

Majority of the people put their utmost best to make family their priority. A family always works together to make complicated things manageable and support each other.

They will always be there for each other as a family built on unity, love, and teamwork. No family is perfect — yet a small or big family built on God’s love works hard for the happiness of everyone. A human being is incomplete without a love for family and, most significant, a love for God.

4 Essentials for a Stronger Family Bond

If you are one of those who value a strong family bond to keep everyone in the family intact despite the challenges of life, the following four (4) steps for a stronger family would be worthwhile:

1. Establish Open Communication

Establishing open communication among members of the family is healthy. Let every member of the family communicate their goals, dreams, your interests, and needs at every opportunity.

Talk about the day’s events. Include all the members of the family in listening to each other’s stories. Share wonderful memories.

One of the biggest communication problems is if we don’t listen to understand the other. Thus, communication must be a two-way process where everyone is given the chance to speak.

2. Respect Each Other

Always show respect for each other. And make a habit of forgiving 77x or more.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, ” I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Matthew 18:21-22

Respect and calmness are the essentials for maintaining peace, even when disagreements arise. Do not shout at each other as doing so degrades the family bond.

Teamwork strengthens the family bond.

3. Work as a Team

Work as a team in the family and take responsibilities at home. A well-functioning family takes responsibilities for what is theirs to do as their part in household chores.

Sort out who needs to be responsible for certain household chores. It helps develop the sense of responsibility in children by training them the importance of fulfilling duties and upholding commitments.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. When individuals work together, they can double their strength and get much more done as a team. They also reap the value of having worked in unison, thus creating harmony instead of disorder.

Ecclesiastes 4:9

There is power in working as a team; the weakness of one is complemented by the other and the task is done. In unity, there is strength.

4. Create Fun, Enjoyable Moments

Create fun, enjoyable moments. A family that enjoys each activity together and enjoys attending regular Sunday service together as a group builds a stronger family bond and also stronger kids.

The capacity of a mother for great labor, wanting to actively put in order everything at the house won’t cease. For example, taking care of her kiddos, incomparably alone, consumes with vexation much of her time. Not to mention the rigorous housecleaning and cooking, which she needs to carry out on a day-to-day basis. Because of this, she could hardly have ample time for herself to revive her energy, vigor, and stamina.

But giving and spending time with the family, her husband, the kids — creating fun, enjoyable moments that everyone will cherish — requires a herculean effort that will strengthen the family bond. Both parents should seek to integrate this activity with their children. Undoubtedly, this will reinforce the family bond.

Have fun! Enjoy the kids while they’re young.
