Background on the Native Durian or Native Malagkit Durian

Durian trees are large. These plants can grow from 70 feet to 165 feet tall depending on its soil, and the variety too. It bears its first fruits after 4 years to 5 years and is open pollinated. Some bear fruits once or twice a year. Scientists believed the development of anthers and its flowers in the clade Durio was in conjunction with beetle pollination and vertebrae pollination.

There are 300 distinct different durian species, about 9 or more of which yield edible fruits grown in Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia. In a celebrated, famous manner being the “King of Fruits.”

Native malagkit Durian is famous in Mindanao Philippines and well loved by everyone in the region due to its palatable milder taste, milder aroma and deliciousness.

Durian was named primarily the “King of Fruits” because of:

  1. its spikey sharp impeding prickles rind and or tough outer layer of its peel,
  2. its massive, weighty, impressively large size with what’s typical of a fruit,
  3. Essential powerhouse health benefits and notably great taste, and
  4. Striking a superior odor.

How to Open a Hard Husk of Mouthwatering Durian Fruit: 7 Ways

  1. Use a big knife with a very thin edge and fine point that can handle the hard shell of the durian fruit.
  2. Find a clean pair of cloth gloves, firmly grasp and hold the durian with one hand. If you don’t have gloves, a clean piece of cloth can be an alternative.
  3. Look for the 5-pointed star shape at the bottom of the durian fruit (see Figure 1).
  4. Dedicate your left hand on holding the durian fruit, whilst the right hand cautiously cuts the durian fruit.
  5. Carefully jab and pierce the knife directly on the central portion of the star.
  6. Gently twist or move in a turning motion the knife on the durian. Continually twist the knife left and right many times till it opens.
  7. Glide the thumb of both hands inside the opening made using the knife, and forcefully separate the fleshy parts while being careful of not putting in much pressure to damage the pulp. Place one by one on a big serving plate. Best served chilled.

In a marvelous, surprising manner—he was getting better and better each day. He was remarkably recovering and regaining his strength back. His blood platelets, to everyone’s great astonishment, were restored to its normal conditions and the fever as well consummately have vanished. In the succeeding days, he was discharged from the hospital, totally healed and back on his foot again. We were all grateful to God, the ever-great doctor, the great healer ever (Ezekiel 47:12: “And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food, their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary.
